Unique Raleigh-Wedding-Photography Influenced by Education and Technology
Many people are finding out that Raleigh Wedding Photography is starting to blaze its own trail in the photographic community. What makes this a bit of a surprise is aside from the 3 major colleges in the area, there is no music/fashion/commercial enterprise that is directly feeding its growth. An interesting fact about wedding photography, with the advent of digital cameras and their subsequent price drop, the bar for wedding photography immediately went thru the roof. Below are a few reasons for this:
- Education
While those currently working as wedding photographers can attest to, wedding photography is a very technically challenging and sometimes stressful field to be involved with. Short timelines, ever changing conditions and little to no control of the actual events unfolding make this field attractive to a certain personality type who thrives in a fast paced, ever changing environment. With the technical resources in the area in the form of community, state and private colleges, Raleigh wedding photography is certainly emerging as the “birthplace” of many nationally known photographers.
- Influences
Not having major influences present is actually quite a boon to the industry. In New York or California, you have a definitive style and the more famous photographers greatly influence the styles of most the photographers. Raleigh wedding photography tends to follow its own course and pulls influences from around the country, not just one region, which gives it a very unique style & flavor. Located in the center of a geographically diverse state, photographers can hone their skill sets on the beach, the mountains, sports, fashion shows, commercial, architectural very easily – all of which influence their wedding photography
- Technology
Having a technically savvy population lowers the initial barrier into being a professional photographer. Many people choose to “follow their passion” and be a professional photographer which crowds the market. While this clouds the market for consumers looking for Raleigh wedding photographers, it also forces the market to evolve and produce truly unique and stunning photography to set themselves apart.
- Conclusion
Raleigh Wedding Photography provides some of the most diverse and talented photographers in the country. While the market is indeed crowded this really is, in the end, a win for the consumer once they get past the initial pain of sorting thru pages and pages of photographers to find exactly the style they are looking for.

Portrait Photography Transformed: 1960 Present $167.28 Photography at the high school level has traditionally been taught in a studio or darkroom and rarely included art history. The curriculum was generally gender biased and narrowly focused, leaving little time to investigate important contributions of female photographers. Because of the digital revolution, photography has moved from the darkroom into the computer lab where students learn technical skills and basic software programs. Because computer lab exercises lack any broad intellectual significance, combining photography with computer technology in a classroom setting makes it possible for students to learn about one and become proficient at the other. Also, there has been little significant political, cultural, and social discourse in the classroom within a mainstream educational context. Portrait Photography Transformed: 1960 Present focuses on how changing times affect social concepts of art, communication, and technology. The study of portraiture offers a point of connection between contemporary modes of production and the timelessness of being human. Through portrait photography, students find mirrors reflecting who they were, are, or could be. On Photography $81.25 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles On Photography is a 1977 collection of essays by Susan Sontag. It originally appeared as a series of essays in the New York Review of Books between 1973 and 1977. In the book, Sontag expresses her views on the history and presentday role of photography in capitalist societies as of the 1970s. Sontag discusses many examples of modern photography. Among these, she contrasts Diane Arbuss work with that of Depressionera documentary photography commissioned by the Farm Security Administration. She also explores the history of American photography in relation to the idealistic notions of America put forth by Walt Whitman and traces these ideas through to the increasingly cynical aesthetic notions of the 1970s, particularly in relation to Arbus and Andy Warhol. Speedlights & Speedlites: Creative Flash Photography At The Speed Of Light $30.49 Canon Speedlites and Nikon Speedlights are small off-camera flashguns that can provide big results – if you know how to use them properly. Acclaimed Boston photographers Lou Jones Bob Keenan and Steve Ostrowski guide you through the technical and creative aspects of how to get the most out of these powerful tools in this indispensable guide packed full of inspirational images and comprehensive diagrams of the lighting set ups used to capture them. They are significantly more advanced lighter and considerably cheaper than a standard flashgun and have many advantages. They are small (and cheap) enough that a number can be carried in your kit and they can be used in combination triggered wirelessly. They use through-the-lens (TTL) metering which allows you to use the in-camera LCD and histograms to calculate the required power/direction rather than havng to use a light meter or trial and error. They use proprietary dedicated technology (from Canon and Nikon) that means there are no compatability issues.Getting the most out of them however remains a mystery – most photographers still just use their speedlights in the same way as a standard flash gun. This is where this book comes in. |

Panoramic Photography $68.51 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Panoramic photography is a technique of photography, using specialized equipment or software, that captures images with elongated fields of view. It is sometimes known as wide format photography. The term has also been applied to a photograph that is cropped to a relatively wide aspect ratio. While there is no formal division between wideangle and panoramic photography, wide angle normally refers to a type of lens, but this lens type does not necessarily image a panorama. An image made with an ultra wide angle fisheye lens covering the normal film frame of 1:1.33 is not automatically considered to be a panorama. An image showing a field of view approximating, or greater than, that of the human eye about 160 by 75 may be termed panoramic. This generally means it has an aspect ratio of 2:1 or larger, the image being at least twice as wide as its height. The resulting images take the form of a wide strip. Some panoramic images have aspect ratios of 4:1 and sometimes 10:1, covering fields of view of up to 360 degrees. Both the aspect ratio and coverage of field are important factors in defining a true panoramic image. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. Kirlian Photography $71.7 Kirlian photography refers to a form of photogram made with a high voltage. It is named after Semyon Kirlian, who in 1939 accidentally discovered that if an object on a photographic plate is connected to a source of high voltage, small corona discharges create an image on the photographic plate. Kirlians work, from 1939 onward, involved an independent rediscovery of a phenomenon and technique variously called electrography, electrophotography, and corona discharge photography. The Kirlian technique is contact photography, in which the subject is in direct contact with a film placed upon a metal plate charged with high voltage, high frequency electricity. The underlying physics was explored as early as 1777 by Georg Christoph Lichtenberg. Later workers in the field included Nikola Tesla; various other individuals explored the effect in the later 19th and early 20th centuries. Schlieren Photography $58.94 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Schlieren photography is a visual process that is used to photograph the flow of fluids of varying density. Invented by the German physicist August Toepler in 1864 to study supersonic motion, it is widely used in aeronautical engineering to photograph the flow of air around objects. Its role is changing due to the increasing use of computational fluid dynamics, where the same principle is used to display the computed results as flow images. The basic optical schlieren system uses light from a single collimated source shining on, or from behind, a target object. Variations in refractive index caused by density gradients in the fluid distort the collimated light beam. This distortion creates a spatial variation in the intensity of the light, which can be visualised directly with a shadowgraph system. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F. A History of Women Photographers $47.04 Women have had a special relationship with the camera since the advent of photographic technology in the mid-nineteenth century. Photographers celebrated women as their subjects, from intimate family portraits and fashion spreads to artistic photography and nude studies, including Man Ray’s Violon d’Ingres. In this edition, author Naomi Rosenblum expands the book’s coverage to include additional photographers and fourteen new images. A History of the Future $19.99 The political, social, and economic upheaval of the early twentieth century generated an extraordinary range of proposals for the future as successive generations grappled with issues of organizing vast urban systems and humanizing dense industrial environments. As conceptual design became the vehicle for exploring ideas and presenting new movements, a dialogue between technology and design began to emerge. A History of the Future explores the impact of modern technology on design and planning, beginning with Renaissance concepts that laid the foundations for modern visionary work and concluding with emerging projects in sustainable design. It also includes relevant projects in related fields, such as film, photography, and industrial design. Profusely illustrated, A History of the Future is a visual survey of the heroic, utopian, and occasionally misguided visions of the twentieth century. |
