Marriage ceremony Photography on DVD

It can be advantageous to choose a wedding videographer who performs on a wide range of assignments aside from marriage ceremony videography. The variety of experiences compliment the capability to film your wedding ceremony and can provide fresh new and modern ideas into being.ten. Wedding SongsMusic is this kind of an extremely important element of your wedding ceremony video due to the fact it ties everything collectively, personalises the movie and can create a total assortment of feelings. It’s well worth amassing jointly a large range of tunes that you like and leave the videographer to decide on which ones to use all through your final Wedding ceremony DVD.Based mostly in Bristol, Uk, Damien Lovegrove originally trained as a BBC cameraman and lighting director. He took the environment of marriage ceremony photography by storm with his personal distinctive design of photography back in 2000 and has because grow to be 1 of the biggest names in marriage ceremony and portrait photography.Alongside a array of distinctive photography services, Damien also lectures supplying workshops, seminars and even mentoring. As effectively as confront-to-encounter periods, Damien’s teachings are readily available in two tutorial style DVDs Employing Normal Gentle on Place and Employing Flash on Place. In his DVD, Utilizing Natural Gentle on Location, Damien talks through a range of portrait sessions with a selection of douleur and feminine types in different places. As the title of the DVD suggests, the sessions use organic light only and Damien, really openly, provides lots of insight into his methodology and techniques as he goes along. From deciding on suited locations to posing, lens choice to publicity settings. The viewer is supplied with a unusual possibility to not only observe over the shoulder as shots are becoming composed, but also get to locate out the imagined that goes into each a single.1 of the excellent issues about fly-on-the-wall kind video clips these as this is that you get to see not only how Damien sets up each and every shot, but also how he interacts with and guides every model. What I truly like about each of the places is that they’re the kind of spots that should be available to most people. Shooting in unique locations might make it simpler to produce wonderful images, but what Damien displays is that with the correct lighting, technique and publish processing, you can turn the most mundane nook into a wonderfully moody place.Damien’s fashion of presenting is extremely calm and enjoyable to look at. He requires his time to make clear his considered processes and option of digicam settings for every single shot, using just adequate terminology to permit new photographers to adhere to.In addition to the tutorials, there are a couple of particular functions on the DVD which I’m confident go a lengthy way to answering two of the most frequent queries about Damien’s photography what submit processing he uses and what he keeps in his kit bag.The chapter covering the contents of his kit bag is fairly easy. The chapter covering submit processing is a great opportunity to see how Damien turns five of the images using throughout filming into a amount of images that make him these a hugely regarded photographer.Damien’s publish processing is carried out in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.

Marketing Fine Art Photography

Marketing Fine Art Photography

$33.69

In recent years as the field of photography has exploded, many photographers consider selling their work to make a profit and to help defray the high costs of equipment. But, many photographers don’t have the business and marketing knowledge required to successfully sell fine art photographs; and many of those who have tried have been met with disappointment. Until now, little information of value has been available. In Marketing Fine Art Photography, Alain Briot offers practical, up-to-date and field-tested marketing techniques from the viewpoint of a fine art landscape photographer who earns a living from the sale of his fine art prints. Briot teaches that by taking control of the selling process, you can increase your profits and, ultimately, direct your own destiny. Briot’s approach is based on offering quality not quantity; and offering something unique, rather than something that is mass-produced. Though directed toward selling fine art, this method can be applied to other products. After a series of trials and errors, Briot devised a marketing system that allowed him to get out of debt, pay for a state-of-the-art studio, and purchase his first home, all from the sale of his photography. Briot has taught fine art photography marketing to numerous students in seminars, through one-on-one consulting, and through his Marketing Mastery tutorial DVD. Topics include: Defining fine art photography Wholesale, retail, and consignment Knowing your customer Where to sell and how to price fine art Fundamentals of marketing and salesmanship Profitability and honesty in business Packing and shipping fine art Common marketing mistakes The unique selling proposition (USP)

Gunfighter (1999) DVD

Gunfighter (1999) DVD

$4.95

Christopher Coppola (nephew of Francis, who “presents” the film) attempts to capture the innocence of Saturday matinee Westerns in this naive little film. Gunfighter is framed as a tale told by a grizzled stranger (Martin Sheen) to a down and out guitar slinger and songwriter (Robert Carradine) in an abandoned ghost-town bar, but the dark interiors give way to bright color and widescreen photography. Stiff and colorless Chris Lybbert plays town hero Hopalong Cassidy, a tall, clean-cut figure of courage and moral fortitude who becomes the target of a vengeful cattle rustler who kidnaps his girl. Hoppy shoots the guns from his opponent’s hands in the opening gunfight, pops the buttons from the same man’s shirt in the final shootout, and in cliffhanger fashion is left tied up with a hissing bundle of lit dynamite. Coppola unfortunately bobbles the exercise in B-movie cowboy hokum with sloppy direction, and the film comes off more cornball than cute, though to its credit no recent film has come closer to capturing the straight-shooting simplicity of the kiddy cowboy heroes of yesteryear.

Paul Strand in Mexico [With DVD]

Paul Strand in Mexico [With DVD]

$76.45

"Paul Strand in Mexico" tells the story of the photographer’s journeys through Mexico in the early 1930s. In search of a fresh start, Strand traveled to Mexico City in late 1932 at the invitation of Carlos Chavez, the eminent Mexican composer and conductor. The work he created during this key period reflects a time of intense productivity, creative renewal, and the evolution of Strand’s foundational idea of the "collective portrait," in which he depicted a region through photographs of individuals, still lifes and studies of architecture and religious subjects. The first publication to chronicle this pivotal time in Strand’s career (1932-34), "Paul Strand in Mexico "demonstrates how, through his photographic studies and work in film, Strand deepened his involvement with Mexican art, society, and revolutionary politics. Shedding new light on this little-known chapter of Strand’s life, a scholarly analysis by James Krippner (Associate Professor of History at Haverford College, Pennsylvania) brings together primary research from distinguished archives and institutions in both Mexico and the United States, and Mexican photo-historian Alfonso Morales contributes an essay contextualizing this remarkable body of work within the canon of Mexican photography and film of the 1930s. Additionally, the appendix serves as the catalogue raisonne of Strand’s entire photographic output in Mexico. The culmination of Strand’s time in Mexico was his collaboration with Emilio Gomez Muriel and Academy Award-winning director Fred Zinnemann on the groundbreaking film, "Redes" ("The Wave") (1936). A remastered DVD version of the film is included with this essential volume. Paul Strand (1890-1976) is one of the great photographers of the twentieth century. As a youth, he studied under Lewis Hine at the Ethical Culture Fieldston School, going on to draw acclaim from such illustrious sources as Alfred Stieglitz. After World War II, Strand traveled around the world–from New England to Ghana to France to the Outer Hebrides–to photograph, and in the process created a dynamic and significant body of work.

Taschen’s 1000 Favorite Websites [With DVD]

$3.95

In the not-too-distant past, the "internet" was a military communication device virtually unknown to civilians. Then in the 1990s came an explosion, a sort of digital big bang, and suddenly everyone began communicating via the world wide web. The web’s evolution has proceeded at lightning speed, meaning that today’s websites are infinitely more sophisticated and well-designed than their predecessors. When a website gets updated, the previous version generally evaporates into the digital beyond, so it’s up to us to preserve and record this fascinating medium. 1000 Favorite Websites brings together — you guessed it — 1000 of today’s very best websites in the areas of advertising, architecture, art design, digital, erotic, illustration, movies, fashion, photography, and more; each website is presented via screenshots annotated with icons indicating the features of the site (e.g. animation, sound, downloadable material, etc.) Serving as a vital reference for web enthusiasts, this book is also a place marker in the history of the internet and a vibrant catalog of cutting-edge global web design. Bonus: Included in the book is a DVD (PAL and NTSC format, region 0) containing six mini-documentaries, each focusing on interviews with a creative web professional. The subjects covered include: how to use the net to maximize production, to find technical support, to help clients, to provide better service, to exchange ideas, to stay updated on the latest news, and to put creativity to work.

Dark Light: The Art of Blind Photographers DVD

Dark Light: The Art of Blind Photographers DVD

$19.98

Directed and produced by award-winning photographer/filmmaker Neil Leifer, this 31-minute documentary demonstrates, through an extreme example, how creative people with disabilities are transcending their limitations to create art. The subjects in Dark Light: The Art of Blind Photographers have been drawn to photography for different reasons, whether to create an image for the sighted world that they hold in their mind, or to capture an image experienced through nature (as is the case for one legally-blind scuba diver). As we see, each artist displays a drive and passion to create, and views the medium of photography as an opportunity rather than impossibility. Several professional, sighted photographers are interviewed by Leifer in the film; though each is initially skeptical about the ability of a blind person to take effective photos, they are all eventually swayed by the zeal and brio with which these artists work.

Photography and Anthropology

Photography and Anthropology

$29.78

In "Photography and Anthropology, "Christopher Pinney presents a provocative and readable account of the strikingly parallel histories of the two disciplines, as well as a polemical narrative and overview of the use of photography by anthropologists from the 1840s to the present. Walter Benjamin suggested that photography “make s] the difference between technology and magic visible as a thoroughly historical variable,” and Pinney here explores photography as a divinatory practice that prompted anthropologists to capture the “primitive” lives of those they studied.   Early anthropology celebrated photography as a physical record, whose authority and permanence promised an escape from the lack of certainty in speech. But later anthropologists faulted photography for failing to capture movement and process. Anthropology as a practice of “being there” has thus found itself entwined in an intimate engagement with photography as metaphor for the collection of evidence.   Through numerous examples from the annals of anthropological photography, "Photography and Anthropology" examines the history of anthropology’s enchantment with photography alongside the anthropological theory of photography and documentation.

What Photography Is

What Photography Is

$38.9

In What Photography Is, James Elkins examines the strange and alluring power of photography in the same provocative and evocative manner that he explored oil painting in his best-selling What Painting Is. Elkins argues that photograpy is also about meaninglessnessa "its apparently endless capacity to show us things that we do not want or need to seea "and paina "extremely powerful images that can sear into our consciousness permanently. Extensively illustrated with a surprising range of images, Elkins demonstrates that what makes photography uniquely powerful is its ability to express the difficultya "physically, psychologically, emotionally, and aethsticallya "of the act of seeing.

The Paradox of Photography.

The Paradox of Photography.

$61.74

"The Paradox of Photography "analyzes the discourse on photography by four of the most important modern French poets and theorists (Baudelaire, Breton, Barthes and Valry). It stresses in particular the importance of this visual language for the development of both new forms of narrative and original critical studies on issues of representation in art. It also reflects upon the integration of photography within the domain of technical modernity while emphasizing its aesthetic identity stemming from the Western tradition of figurative painting.

Photography and Egypt

Photography and Egypt

$32.06

Egypt immediately conjures images of the pyramids, the temples, and the Sphinx in the desert. Early photographs of Egypt took these ancient monuments as their primary subjects, and these have remained hugely influential in constructing our view of the country. But while Egypt and its monuments have been regularly photographed by foreigners, little is known about the early days of photography among Egyptians. "Photography and Egypt "examines both, considering a wide range of images from the mid-nineteenth century to the present day, including studio portraits, landscapes, and photojournalism. Two forces drove photography’s early development in Egypt: its use as an essential tool of archaeology and the accelerating effects of archaeological photographs on the burgeoning tourism industry. In this richly illustrated book, Maria Golia examines these twin drives, while looking closely at the work of early Egyptian photographers such as Colonel Mohammed Sadiq, Mohammed Badr, and Atiyya Gaddis, many of whom have never before been studied. Golia examines how photography was also employed for propaganda purposes, including depictions of celebrated soldiers, workers, and farmers; and how studio-based photography was used to portray the growing Egyptian middle class. Today’s young photographic artists, Golia reveals, use the medium both to celebrate everyday life and to indict the political and social conditions that contribute to their hardship, with photography bearing witness to this history–as well as helping to shape it.

Photography and Surrealism

Photography and Surrealism

$69.95

This clear and challenging re-evaluation of the status and usage of photographic images in historical surrealism puts surrealism's fundamental issues back into the framework of its historical purpose and function. David Bate asks what a surrealist photograph actually is. He discusses such issues as automatism and the photographic image, the surrealist passion for insanity, their ambivalent use of Orientalism and adoption of Sadean philosophy as well as the effect of fascism on the surrealists. Seeking to locate the use of photography by surrealists within the cultural discourses of that historical moment, Photography and Surrealism is a genuinely original contribution to the field. The book is illustrated with a range of surrealist images.

Photography and Italy

Photography and Italy

$33.95

In this beautifully illustrated book Maria Antonella Pelizzari traces the history of photography in Italy from its beginnings to the present as she guides us through the history of Italy and its ancient sites and Renaissance landmarks. Pelizzari specifically considers the role of photography in the formation of Italian national identity during times of political struggle, such as the lead up to Unification in 1860, and later in the nationalist wars of Mussolini’s regime. While many Italians and foreigners— such as Fratelli Alinari or Carlo Ponti, John Ruskin or Kit Talbot—focused their lenses on architectural masterpieces, others documented the changing times and political heroes, creating icons of figures such as Garibaldi and the brigands. Pelizzari’s exploration of Italian visual traditions also includes the photographic collages of Bruno Munari, the neorealist work of photographers such as Franco Pinna, the bold stylized compositions of Mario Giacomelli, and the controversial images created by Oliviero Toscani for Benetton advertising in the 1980s. Featuring unpublished works and a rare selection of over one hundred images, this book will appeal to art collectors and students of art history and Italian culture.

Used for everything from geographic evaluation to secret spy missions, aerial photography has a rich and storied history, ably recounted here in Photography and Flight . Aerial photography is marked by its dependency on technological developments in both photography and aerospace, and the authors chart the history of this photography as it tracked the evolution of these technologies. Beginning with early images taken from hot-air balloons, fixed platforms, and subsequent handheld camera technology, Denis Cosgrove and William Fox then explain how military reconnaissance and governmental projects were instrumental in catalyzing these and other innovations in the field. They examine pivotal historical moments in which aerial photography began to establish itself as essential tool, such as in World War II military strategies, high-altitude photography taken from postwar rockets and aircraft, and the use of aerial photography during the cold war and the Cuban Missile Crisis. The book also explores the advancement of geographic scholarship through aerial photography, ranging from military excursions into Antarctica to the images of the curvature of the earth taken during the Apollo space missions. While digital technology and remote sensing have changed the landscape of photography, Photography and Flight argues that they have not diminished the significance of aerial photography in providing images of the earth. Rather, new technologies and resulting innovations such as Google Earth have enabled the mass democratization of access to such information. Photography and Flight ultimately reveals how the camera lens from far away continues to unearth telling details about the land and those who live upon it.

Kafka and Photography

Kafka and Photography

$124.99

Franz Kafka was fascinated by photography, a medium which for him came to encapsulate both the attractions and the pitfalls of modern life. In the first detailed study of photography in Kafka's work, which includes more than 20 illustrations, Carolin Duttlinger gives close readings of the most important prose works, as well as the letters and diaries. – ;Throughout his life, Franz Kafka was fascinated by photography, a medium which for him came to encapsulate both the attractions and the pitfalls of modern life. Kafka's personal engagement with the medium – as a keen viewer and collector of photographs as well as an amateur photographer – is reflected in his writings, which explore photography from a variety of different perspectives By far the most frequently and extensively discussed visual medium in Kafka's texts, photography is. paradigmatic of his relationship to visuality more generally. This study not only explores photography's recurrence as a theme within his texts but it is also the first to take systematic account of Kafka's use of photographs as literary source material. Kafka and Photography presents one of the most important modern writers from an entirely new perspective; it sheds new light on familiar works and uncovers unexplored aspects of Kafka's engagement with his time and context. Providing a chronological account of key prose works, as well as the personal writings, this study is accessible to students and lay readers. It will be of interest not only to literary scholars but also to those working in photography, media, and cultural studies. Its detailed textual analyses are set against a richly documented historical context which illustrates Kafka's interest in contemporary culture through a range of visual material taken from public as well as private sources – some of which has only recently become available. As this book demonstrates,. photography had a profound impact on Kafka's literary imagination and as such helps to explain the mesmerizing intensity of enigmatic visual detail which is a hallmark of his narratives. -

Ubiquitous Photography

Ubiquitous Photography

$64.95

The rise of digital photography and imaging has transformed the landscape of visual communication and culture. Events, activities, moments, objects, and people are ‘captured’ and distributed as images on an unprecedented scale. Many of these are shared publicly; some remain private, others become intellectual property, and some have the potential to shape global events. In this timely introduction, the ubiquity of photography is explored in relation to interdisciplinary debates about changes in the production, distribution, and consumption of images in digital culture. Ubiquitous Photography provides a critical examination of the technologies, practices, and cultural significance of digital photography, placing the phenomenon in historical, social, and political-economic context. It examines shifts in image-making, storage, commodification, and interpretation as highly significant processes of digitally mediated communication in an increasingly image-rich culture. It covers debates in social and cultural theory, the history and politics of image-making and manipulation, the current explosion in amateur photography, tagging and sharing via social networking, and citizen journalism. The book engages with key contemporary theoretical issues about memory and mobility, authorship and authenticity, immediacy and preservation, and the increased visibility of ordinary social life. Drawing upon a range of sources and original empirical research, Ubiquitous Photography provides a comprehensive introduction to critical academic debate and concrete developments in the field of digital photography. It is essential reading for students and scholars interested in media and society, visual culture, and digital technology.

War and Photography

War and Photography

$49.95

Drawing on the work of Barthes, Eco, Foucault, Baudrillard, Burgin and Tagg, and on the historians of mentalities, War and Photography presents a theoretical approach to the understanding of press photography in its historical and contemporary context. Brothers applies her argument with special reference to French and British newspaper images of the Spanish Civil War, a selection of which is presented in the book. Rejecting analyses based upon the content of the images alone, she argues that photographic meaning is largely predetermined by its institutional and cultural context. Acting as witnesses despite themselves, photographs convey a wealth of information not about any objective reality, but about the collective attitudes and beliefs particular to the culture in which they operate.
